Drama directed by Karuna

May 22, 2009

Early night yesterday, the night before the government to be formed. Mr. Karuna said that he needs some of the major berths which includes Finanace, IT, Railways etc

There are various versions of what the DMK has demanded and what the Congress has agreed to give. Among them are that the party wanted cabinet berths for Karunanidhi’s son M K Azhagiri, daughter Kanimozhi and grand nephew Dayanadhi Maran besides T R Baalu and A Raja apart from ministers of state berths for some others.

And this is too much for a party . The party must be judicious and more resonable.  The demand for the portfolios is also too much for the party which has won only around 18 seats.

Sources say that the DMK is gonna give support from outside. There is no problem for Congress to form the government as they have majority. But the Tamil Nadu government which is in alliance with the Congress may have some problems if the fight arises . But who knows????]

For  the lefties, the Karunanidhi’s drama is just because he dint get the berths which earns a lot and there is no place for his family members.

Well Done – EC

May 17, 2009

ECIt is a measure of deep roots that democracy has struck in the country that an exercise in which 714 million voters (?)  were cakked upon to elect the new Lok Sabha passed off without any major mishap, barring a few attacks in the early phases.

The election commission deserves to be commended for having done a gigantic jobs done well.       The tension between then the Cheif  Election Commissioner Gopalswami and Naveen Chawla who succeded him.

While it is a matter of concern that the money power was in full flow and the parties of all hues did not bat in eyelid in putting up several candidates with criminal antecedent, incidents of booth capturing were unheared in the election. This was partly because of the EVMs and partly because if the vigilant eyes of the EC.

If there was a avoidable flaw in the process, it was tooo long, spread as it was through 5 phases for over a month. In an atmosphere of acrimony and malice that prevailed, the EC thought that it would fit in the side of caution.

It is incubent on us to do something to see wheather citizens  discharged our responsibilities well. The turnout of the voters left scope of the improvement, especially of the elite middle class.

In many major cities, there was an good degree of voter apathy, particularly amongst the weel-heeled chatteratti. Overall, the total voting percentage is not inspiring.

On the other hand, hundreds of aspiring voters found out their names missing including Kamal Hassan, who cancelled his shootings because of the elections.

Yet all done, there is room for satisfaction that the mammoth task has been completed with vert few glitches.

Election Results(?)

May 14, 2009

Oops ya elections ended. Am free now. Many newspapers, tvs covered elections in the first page, special programs etc. Now, after it many independent channels and newspapers are giving exclusive election results (?) before the official results.
This may or may not be correct but these types of election results may have controversies. When i came across these results i saw some leaders who were blindfolded and guilty about their perfomence while they were questioned about.
No one knows the fate of Mother India till the results are announced on 16th May 2009.
